bph genes of the thermophilic PCB degrader, Bacillus sp. JF8: characterization of the divergent ring-hydroxylating dioxygenase and hydrolase genes upstream of the Mn-dependent BphC, by G. Mukerjee-Dhar, M. Shimura, D. Miyazawa, K. Kimbara and T. Hatta

Microbiology vol. 151, part 12, pp. 4139 - 4151

Supplementary Figure
Comparison of the region of the potential Fe(II) ligands in the active site of the large alpha subunit of the 35 ring-hydroxylating dioxygenases shown in Fig. 4. The conserved His residues (indicated by asterisks) coordinate the iron atom, while the conserved Asp residue is involved in electron transfer. The presence of indels (insertions or deletions) is used to categorize the 35 dioxygenases into 4 groups, I, II, III and IV, the members of which appear to cluster in the phylogenetic tree shown in Fig. 4.[ PDF file ] (1398 KB)
